About

My research examines African American Rhetorics and Literacies, Black Feminist Theory and Pedagogy, Contemporary Rhetorical Theory, and Popular Culture. Specifically, I am interested in how African Americans devise rhetorics of repair, literacy curriculums, and pedagogies to redress and prevent crises in their communities. In my current book project, I analyze the discourse on healing, and the arguments, curriculums, and consequences within it, that has emerged in African American self-help books, inspirational literature, and family-oriented films directed towards African American women since the early nineties.
